Our Environment
The garden
At Turtles Day Nursery we believe that all children should have the opportunity to play outside. Your child will have endless fun playing in our secure garden with lots of toys and equipment such as water play, sandpit, bikes and trikes and sports equipment. Your child will also enjoy planting seeds and vegetables and helping them grow by watering them daily. During the summer time we like to enjoy the garden more often and for longer which sometimes includes having snack outside which the children love to do.

Our sleep room
Our sleep room is quiet and cosy and has a mixture of cots and small beds, each child has their own sheets and blankets and these will be washed each week. Our room is finished off with small teddies, bedtime books and small cloud lights to really give the room a cosy feel. Our staff will check on your children every 10 minutes whilst your child is sleeping.
Nappy changing room
Our nappy changing area is well equipped and kept to the highest standards so your child can be changed comfortably and safely.
Toilet area
Our bathroom area is well designed and has a very friendly feel to it. We have three small toilets so all children can fit on them and we have three small basins for your children to wash their hands.
Babies (up to 2 years)
Within the baby room our staff work closely with your child to make sure all their individual needs are met, as each baby is unique. For our younger babies we will follow your routines such as bottle feeding and sleep times, our older babies will fit into our routine. We have daily dairies for this group which will provide you with information including how much food they’ve eaten, what snacks they’ve had, nappy changes, sleep times and what they have been doing and enjoying throughout their day. Strong bonds are built between your baby and their keyworker.
Babies have lots of free flow play throughout the day, a time for planned adult led activities to follow the EYFS is also planned each day to meet every child’s specific needs. We have a great garden where your baby can explore and have lots of fun experiences including water play and sand play. We also make lots of time for fun filled activities such as painting, messy play, cooking, dancing, topic and season work. We also love to go on day trips out including the park, farm, aquarium and many more places.
We ask you provide a change of clothes either in your babies bag or to stay at nursery in case your child needs changing. During summer months we ask you supply sun cream and a hat to stay at nursery for your child and in the winter months we ask you prove wellies to stay at nursery. Lastly we ask you provide slippers to stay at nursery for your child to put on when they come in.

We provide a variety of more advanced activities and experiences for your child to develop and thrive. Your child will be encouraged to become independent, we do several things to help your child to develop their independence skills such as them having their own water bottle, accessing their own tray, self selection of resources and equipment, cutting up their own snack and pouring their own milk, and putting their own clothes and shoes on .
Their day will be well balanced giving plenty of time for free flow play, adult led planned activities, garden play and fun activities including messy play, arts and crafts, cooking, dancing, water and sand play and topic and season work.
